I Remember that Day
By Brian Walrond May 8, 2016
I remember that Day I remember it clearly. We flew out the night before
And landed in Grand Prairie we left our precious girls with Grandma and my wife was with me We could not imagine or fathom WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO OUR CITY
I remember that day Cause everything seemed fine
Yes the were some hot spots that were burning outside the city line
I’m not one to worry so I pushed it out of my mind
It’s funny how fast things can change because it turned on a dime
I remember that day the Fire shifted and it happened just like that
Evacuations orders coming from all around Fort Mac
Saying it’s time to go right now and left little time to Pack
So many people leaving there live and without knowing when they’d be back
I Remember that day cause it stuck in my head
Amidst the panic and fear and urgency and dread
Instead blue skies and green trees It was just black smoke orange and red
Amazing that everyone made it out alive and after only 2 dead
I remember that day when everything changed
When saw our city going up in flames
And when you’ve gone through the fire you’ll never be the same
And even when get to go back it will all seem strange
I remember that day because we wished we had stayed. Our girls in this crisis and right in harms way. But thank God for Grandma our friends who kept them safe and provided the answer to the prayers we prayed
I remember that day and of this I’m sure
We are so small compared to nature and nothings secure
With all we’ve gone through and what we’ve endured
I always believed in God but now my faith is stronger than ever before
I remember that day because there are many lessons I’ve learned
No matter what I’ve have lost or what ever been burned
Life is sacred and Most have more than enough
Most important things life are people and Stuff is just stuff
I remember that day and I remember it well
Some remembers the smoke and others remember the smell
Some remember the flames and others remember the hell
If you remember that day then you got a story to tell
